Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Awards: 2018 Redskins Offseason Edition. Who’s got the hype! The Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Award has been given out unofficially by the fans for years to each preseason's most hyped players Womens Customized Washington Redskins Jerseys , but now we've made it official, and will bring it to a vote. This week's vote will cover the entire offseason leading up to Thursday’s game against the Patriots. Place your vote for who you feel has been the most hyped player up to this point, whether the hype is deserved or not.The Rules:1. Player must have been drafted late or signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent. Players that have only been on other teams practice squads that are signed by the team are also eligible.2. A player that has been on the team for several years is still eligible if most of that time has been spent on the practice squad, inactive, or with very limited productivity/timeHow have past Mason/Brennan winners done in thr NFL after receiving this glorious award? The Candidates:CB Danny JohnsonJohnson has been getting love from a lot of people since joining the Redskins as an UDFA this year. The most important love of all has come from Head Coach Jay Gruden who mentions him a lot during his pressers. Johnson has been making plays throughout camp, and is expected to shine in the preseason. Many people have him as a sleeper for the last spot in the secondary. His hype is on the rise.OLB Pete RobertsonPete Robinson as most fans still call him will make people remember his name in the preseason. Robinson is another player that gets official hype from his head coach, and from fellow players including his cousin Trent Williams. Robinson will push to have the team keep a 5th OLB this year.WR Maurice HarrisIs Harris still eligible for this award after being in 16 games for the Redskins over his two year career? Hell yes he is. 12 career catches and the best TD catch of the season last year hasn’t knocked him out of the Hype! awards just yet. Harris was an UDFA two years ago and was cut before last season started. He wasn’t activated until November, but his believers have faith that he should be getting a lot more playing time. He has had a phenomenal camp, could this be his year to actually do something consistently?CB Adonis AlexanderSupplemental 6th round draft picks have ZERO chance of being cut this year, or so I have been told. Alexander was a hyped player last year, but took a fall and the Skins were able to scoop him up for the low, low price of a 2019 6th round pick. He has all the physical tools to make it, and that’s what people are investing their hype bucks in. ILB Shaun Dion HamiltonAnother Bama to add to the collection. SDH has been getting rave reviews from coaches and is already getting labeled a late-round steal. He's a smart player who had major injuries in college end his last two seasons. He's gonna shine in preseason if he stays healthy.S Quin BlandingHe should have been drafted higher...or at all! Blanding is another player Redskins fans have hyped up as a potential steal at safety, a position fans and the team have needed an answer at for years. He was one of the highlights of a decent UDFA class that people are hoping can stick around this year.ILB Josh Harvey-ClemonsWhat is more important than Head Coach hype? Getting the Ken Meringolo hype seal of approval! JHC has been a certified hype machine in camp and is the first one in at ILB when either starter isn’t available. Another physical hype player who has some things the Redskins defense have been missing. And those Kam Chancellor draft comparisons...WR Cam SimsWR? check. 6’5”? check. Making plays in camp in drills designed for the receiver to have an advantage? check. We've have all the ingredients for a presesson hype monster here.S Kenny LadlerCan a former CFL star make it on the Redskins www.redskinscheapshops.com , or will he be heading north after the roster cuts next month. Ladler has a lot of the beat guys penciling his name in as a sleeper candidate to make the team, and has been all over the field in training camp.WR Trey QuinnTrey Quinn was insulted when he heard he was nominated for this award, and immediately gave me an award for being an idiot(this is proudly displayed in my living room next to my journalism degree from Yuengling University). Mr. Irrelevant is the favorite son of fans and coaches alike. He has been called a lock to make the roster by 97% of the world, and the other 3% are on the list. This hype has broken every measuring device we have at Hogs Haven. An NFL player doesn't get an MRI just for fun, so Josh Doctson undergoing one seemed problematic.Even though Doctson played every game last season, the memories of Achilles tendon injuries almost entirely wiping out the 2016 first-round pick's rookie year are fresh. But he and the Washington Redskins are sticking with the idea of not being overly concerned."Just tuning things up," Doctson said. "Every car gets an oil change."Coach Jay Gruden said last week's MRI coming back clear meant no reason for alarm, and the young wide receiver reported feeling good and looks the part early in camp. Health is half the battle for Doctson, who at 6-foot-2 with good hands and instincts has the chance to be a dynamic part of Washington's offense."He can definitely be one of the top receivers in this league with his leaping ability and his size and him being able to run down the field," fellow wideout Jamison Crowder said. "The main thing is just him staying healthy. If he can stay healthy, man, he has all the potential."Doctson's 2017 is evidence of that potential: 35 catches for 502 yards and six touchdowns. He was one of five players with at least 500 yards receiving as quarterback Kirk Cousins spread the ball around, and Gruden doesn't expect that to change this season under Alex Smith."It's going to be hard for one guy to have a fantasy football superstar year," Gruden said. "I think in the red zone is where (Doctson is) going to be most dangerous Washington Redskins T-Shirt , that's where were hoping that he can really dominate in that area of the field and some tight window throws on third down. Just continue to get better and better and when the ball is there for him and he goes out and makes the tough catches."Doctson is unwilling to share personal elements of his game he's working on, but there's no doubt with his size that Smith will be looking his way on Gruden's patented fade routes in the end zone. The TCU product's leaping ability helps him stand out and has been noticeable in one-on-one drills against star cornerback Josh Norman."He's unique," Norman said. "With Josh Doctson, he's deceptively quick — fast in a way that his timing on the ball is almost impeccable. He jumps at the top of every throw, it seems, and then jump balls he's just special."Gruden hopes Smith gets Doctson more touchdown opportunities this season to show what he can do. That should happen assuming the Achilles tendon problems are over and Doctson moves into what's essentially his second NFL season. The biggest challenge Doctson sees for himself now is developing chemistry with Smith, who likes to review plays with receivers in practice and tell them exactly what he wants. That's different from Cousins and TCU QB Trevone Boykin, so Doctson has to adjust."Alex might throw a little different ball than Kirk or my quarterback in college, so it's just kind of getting on page with Alex," he said.Doctson is able to do that because he's on the field and healthy, a trend the Redskins hope lasts all season. cheap football jerseys
